A vacuum valve (36) is designed as an electrically triggered proportional valve for controlling a vacuum applied to a suction gripper (7). A through-flow sensor (42) measures flow of a resulting sucking capacity. Evaluatory electronics (43) trigger the vacuum valve by relying on data from the through-flow sensor. A communications interface (22) communicates data between the evaluatory electronics and external control electronics (23).
