The equipment has a frame housing (1) with electrical connections, where a module housing (2) is insertable in the frame housing and includes electrical and/or electronic components. A plug-in connection, which electrically couples the frame and module housings, has an explosion-proof annular gap designed according to guidelines of explosion protection in compliance with DIN EN 50014, DIN EN 50018and DIN EN 60079. A locking device that locks the housings is provided with an actuator (3) movable transverse to a plug-in direction of the housing (2).
