The method involves detecting a drag-and-drop operation. A dragged source is identified and converted to an international electrotechnical commission (IEC)-6 1131-syntax program portion. The portion is pasted to a text editor area when the dragged source is feasible for a drag-and-drop operation. A programming organization unit (POU) type is judged for the dragged source, and shape of cursor is changed to indicate that drop action is not allowable when the POU type in currently-edited program is function block.
