The vehicle has an internal combustion engine e.g. diesel engine, a drive device and a controllable and/or regulatable eddy-current brake (W) for developing braking torque that is utilized for braking the vehicle. The brake is formed by electromagnets (E) which are controllable by a controlling and/or regulating unit (SR). The electromagnets are combined together with a rotating part, which is a functional integral part of the engine or the drive device. The rotating part is designed as a gear wheel (Z) of the drive device or a crankshaft (KW) of the internal combustion engine.
