The method involves moving a recirculating air flap from a recirculating air position to a fresh air position for prevention of higher air pressures in a vehicle interior or a driver cabin during closure of a vehicle door and associated increased closing forces of the vehicle door. The air flap is moved between the positions based on a control signal characterizing an opening of the vehicle door. The air flap is moved into an intermediate position lying between the positions. The intermediate position and/or the fresh air position are selected as a park position. An independent claim is also included for a ventilation system for a vehicle interior of a passenger car and/or for a driver cabin of a lorry.
