The camera has photo-sensitive sub units provided in a flat arrangement for recording stationary or moving images in an operating mode. A digital optical data stream incides into the device in another operating mode by optics that records the images, where the data stream is received, processed and partially stored by the optics. A sensor e.g. complementary metal oxide semiconductor image sensor, for recording the images serves for receiving the digital optical data stream. An additional sensor is provided for receiving optically transmitted data.
