Belt comprises a multilayer composite structure (30) consisting of at least one textile layer and reinforcing components. The material is folded to produce two connecting zones (42, 44) which are fastened together to produce a seam. Independent claims are included for: (A) a method for making the belt by forming the connecting zones and fastening them together to produce a seam; and (B) use of the belt in papermaking machine clothing.
