The sensor has a conductor (2) made of electrically conducting plastic and projectable into liquid filled in a container (1). The conductor comprises a conductor section (3) i.e. electrically conductive coating, running in a longitudinal direction of the conductor. Electrical resistance of the conductor is larger than that of the liquid. An end of the conductor is connected with a positive terminal (6.1) and another end is connected with a negative terminal (6.2) of an electrical voltage source (6) for providing voltage difference of the voltage source to the conductor section. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining level of liquid using a fill level sensor.
