System and method for data acquisition, processing and display influenced by electronic medical records

The collection, restoration, manipulation, analysis, display and visualization of imaging data in a medical diagnostic context is influenced by information stored in an electronic medical record. The electronic medical record may include past imaging information (14), as well as parameter settings, protocol designations, and any other information extracted from or derived from the previous imaging data (14). The electronic medical record may also contain non-imaging data (16), such as clinical data and results of a variety of non-imaging-type examinations. Depending on the information in the electronic medical record, recommendations (88, 102) for future imaging procedures as well as recommendations of protocols and techniques for capture, recovery, processing, analysis, display and visualization may be given. The information in the electronic medical record may be used directly to set (114) parameters of the imaging system in future imaging and post-acquisition processing.
