The compression heat pump has a compressor (2), a liquefier (3), an expansion device (4) and an evaporator (5). A closed pipeline circuit (6) is provided for connecting the compressor, the liquefier, the expansion device and the evaporator. A coolant circulates the pipeline circuit. A control device (7) is provided for controlling a heat pumping process. A sensor (8) is connected with the control device on the compressor for monitoring the compressor drive. The sensor is a vibration sensor or an acceleration sensor or an acoustic sensor. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a compression heat pump.
