The method involves forming a sheet metal shell as a molded piece of two part shells (1, 2) and ridges (3). Bearing eyes (4, 5) are formed at two ends of the sheet metal shell from two pairs of through holes (4a, 4b, 5a, 5b) in the part shells. Contour of the part shells and through-holes are produced by a metal strip or sheet section. Free cuts of the through-holes are formed in a sheet plane that is bent at an angle against a sheet plate in which free cuts of the contour of the part shells are formed, where the angle ranges between 10 degrees and 70 degrees.
