The method involves fitting a circular plate (4) to a plunger (2.1) and fixing the circular plate between the plungers (1.1, 2.1), where the plungers are provided in an upper section (1) and a lower section (2) of a press respectively. The plungers together with the clamped plate and pressing elements (2.2) with same number of teeth are displaced relative to each other along a direction which runs perpendicular to a plane of the plate (4). An edge of the plate is bent open from the plane of the plate around 90 degrees while the teeth are pressed on the developing edge. An independent claim is also included for a cup-shaped gear wheel manufacturing device comprising two plungers.
