The device (1) has a cover section (2) for covering a trunk (8) surrounding a tank connecting piece, where the device is made of plastic. A passage device (3) is sealingly attached with an opening (3') in an operating position while implementing a tank process around outside diameter of the connecting piece. The passage device is locked with the opening during the transformation in a non-operating position after a closure of the tank process by an elastic band for fluid-close locking of the opening, where the elastic band is provided at inside diameter of the passage device. An independent claim is also included for a method for refueling a motor vehicle tank in the interior of a motor vehicle.
