The system (200) has redundant arrays of independent disks associated to physical disks (215). Resource groups are formed by a virtual disk control table (221), disk address translation table (222) and memory resource control table (223). Each group is divided by logical partitions. Each group has a set of resource types with a port, control processor (212), input/output adapter (213), disk cache (214) and one of the arrays. The input/output adapter and cache form memory resources. The quantity of resources in each group is allocated based on a performance required for each group.
