The assembly (4) has a mounting system (8) for mounting a box (6) on a roof of a motor vehicle (2). The mounting system has right and left box supporting and displacing mechanisms for displacing the box between a rolling position, in which the box is immobilized on the roof, and a loading position in which the box is lowered with respect to the rolling position. The mechanisms allow sliding and tilting of the box between the rolling and loading positions.
