PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, for disposal of a scrapped fluorescent tube, which has high productivity without contaminating the working environment and is designed for disposing of the scrapped fluorescent tube suited for recycling, as well as a method of disposing of the scrapped fluorescent tube. PSOLUTION: This device for disposal of a scrapped fluorescent tube is a breaking device including a charging part which stores a charged scrapped fluorescent tube in a state in which this fluorescent tube is blocked off from the atmosphere following the charging step, a breaking part which receives the stored scrapped fluorescent tube from the charging part as blocked off from the atmosphere and breaks the loaded scrapped fluorescent tube, and a discharging part which receives the broken scrapped fluorescent tube as blocked off from the atmosphere and stores the broken scrapped fluorescent tube as blocked off from the atmosphere.
