PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for promptly presuming a strong earthquake motion area, which uses existing seismometers as they are, and can presume a strong earthquake motion area promptly from just after the occurrence of an earthquake.;SOLUTION: In the prompt strong-earthquake-motion area presumption system by two observation points, indexes capable of real time operation are acquired by using seismometers on an existing line at the two observation points. From the relative size of these index values at the two observation points, the direction of propagation of earthquake motion is presumed, and from the magnitude of the index values at the two observation points the distance up to the boundary of the strong earthquake motion area is presumed.
