PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of stabilizing the transmission distance through a solution of measuring light, without having to micronize the flow channel, inside a reaction well.;SOLUTION: The measuring instrument 300 includes a housing means 209 capable of housing a liquid 601, a biosensor element 210 changed in its optical physical properties by the contact with a target substance, and an optical probe 100 for irradiating the biosensor element with the luminous flux from a light source 320 and also includes a detection means 310 for receiving the luminous flux successively transmitted through the edge surface 102 of a light-transmitting part 101 and the element and detecting the amount of the target substance from the spectrum peak value of the luminous flux. The light-deflecting parts 103, 104 and 105 of the peripheral edge of the light-transmitting part have a leading-end region 108 containing an emitting surface 109 for deflecting the luminous flux in the direction of a center axis and an incident surface 110, which the reflected luminous flux from the surface of the element enters. The leading-end region is arranged in the liquid, the measuring instrument has a measuring means 305 for measuring the distance between the edge surface and the surface from the position and width of the luminous flux entering the incident surface, and the measurement by the measuring means and the detection by the detection means can be changed over.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
