PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium-zinc alloy which is cast at a relatively low temperature, hardly ignites even if the molten alloy is kept at a temperature 40°C higher than the melting point of the alloy in the atmosphere, and has a low specific gravity, and to provide a lightweight magnesium-zinc alloy member.;SOLUTION: The magnesium-zinc alloy with the low specific gravity and the low melting point includes 40 to 80 mass% zinc and the balance magnesium with unavoidable impurities; has a liquidus temperature of 525°C or lower and a specific gravity of 2.8 or less; and does not ignite for ten minutes or longer even when the molten alloy has been kept at the temperature 40°C higher than the melting point of the alloy in the atmosphere.
