PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bismuth-molybdenum-iron composite oxide catalyst for producing 1,3-butadiene by the oxidative dehydrogenation reaction of 1-butene which is excellent in thermal and mechanical stability, has a high conversion ratio and a high selectivity of 1,3-butadiene, and has slow activity deterioration, and a method of producing the catalyst.;SOLUTION: The bismuth-molybdenum-iron composite oxide catalyst contains bismuth, molybdenum, and iron in a molar ratio of 1:0.6-1:0.1-1.25. The method of producing the above catalyst for producing 1,3-butadiene comprises a first process of mixing a bismuth precursor solution and an iron precursor solution, a second process of adding the mixed solution to a molybdenum precursor solution and adjusting the pH of the mixed solution with a basic solution, a third process of carrying out the hydrothermal reaction of the pH adjusted mixed solution, and a fourth process of drying a product by the hydrothermal reaction and then heating and burning the product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
