PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide clay for earthenware repair or shape modification and a shape modification method devised in such a manner that the repair of the breakage or defective part of the earthenware or the shape modification thereof can be easily and reliably performed.;SOLUTION: Earthenware repair clay 10 or shape modification clay 10 is prepared by incorporating a fiber cast which is an unshaped refractory heat insulating material by 20 to 30wt% by weight into the clay. The clay is used for repairing the crack and defect generated in the earthenware in the course of manufacture or for shape modification thereof.
