The catalyst for hydrogenation and purification includes at least one hydrogenation active metal element selected from the group 6, group 8, group 9 and group 10 elements selected from the periodic table group 6 to 25% by weight and from 0.1 to 3% by weight to the carrier made of porous inorganic oxide. By the metal content of the hetero compound, the hetero compound can be effectively diffused into the catalyst without blocking the pores of the outer surface of the catalyst. Thus, the high active state can be maintained for a long period of time.
