PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety trip controlling means capable of preventing with reliability discharge in the form of arc which may occur when a high voltage generator especially for use in electrostatic coating is in use.;SOLUTION: The control circuit 20 of a high voltage generator is provided with circuits 45 and 46 which generate thresholds for trip instruction corresponding to a current value I equivalent to the output voltage of the generator and its time derivative dI/dt. The pattern of the thresholds is in linear relation with output voltage values U in a range where an output voltage value U is smaller than a preset voltage value Uc. The current value I and its time derivative dI/dt input through a conductor 30 are compared with threshold patterns generated through the circuits 45 and 46 at comparators 38 and 39, respectively. According to the result of the comparison, a relay 25 opens the output current path of the equipment to stop voltage output. When the voltage value U is smaller than a specified minimum value Umin, an inhibiting means 49 inhibits safety trip operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
