The disclosed embodiment is directed to reduce adjacent channel interference in an OFDM receiver. Error metrics are monitored, the carrier frequency of the desired channel is adjusted gradually in response to the error metrics. In this way, including the desired signal is corrupted by adjacent channel interference, the received OFDM signal, which may be shifted zero crossing of adjacent channels until it is flush with the FFT bins. Then, there is a case where multi-tap equalizer is used, inter-bin interference arising from frequency offset in the desired channel is eliminated.
