PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To marvelously enhance the decomposition rate of a compound to be decomposed included in an aqueous solution by adding a very small amount of ozone to a blowing gas (e.g., air) used for air lifting at the time of ultrasonic reaction using an air lift system.;SOLUTION: An air bubble-column 1 provided with a partition plate 3 not partitioning the upper layer part and lower layer part of the air bubble column 1 but partitioning an intermediate layer part is filled with the aqueous solution containing the compound to be decomposed up to a height exceeding the air bubble column 1 and an ozone-containing gas (a) or ozone and gas (b) are separately blown in the air bubble column from the bottom part of the air bubble column on one side partitioned by the partition plate while ultrasonic waves are emitted upward from the bottom part of the air bubble column on the other side partitioned by the partition plate. By this method, the aqueous solution is brought to a rising flow on the ozone-containing gas blowing side by the blowing action of the ozone-containing gas and brought to a falling flow on an ultrasonic irradiation side to decompose the compound to be decomposed while circulating the aqueous solution across the partition plate.
