According to the invention, the graves are excavated and the human remains are labelled, exhumed and stored temporarily. At least one drainage layer (21) is applied to the base layer of the pit and a reinforcing steel grille (24) is laid on said drainage layer. The human remains that have been exhumed are re-buried on a degradable plastic film on top of said reinforcing steel grille (24). The grave is filled with a mixture of humus, concrete aggregate and waste wood or straw. The site is constructed from bottom to top in such a way that the base of the pit is equipped with drainage pipes that open into a drainage system. The drainage pipes and the base of the pit are covered with a layer of drainage gravel (21), which is in turn covered with a filtration textile or nonwoven (22), the latter being covered with a layer of concrete chippings (23). Buttresses (18) are sunk into the base of the pit and interconnected by concrete supports (19), thus forming crosspieces (20) that lie just below the surface of the ground.
