METHOD FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF HALLUX VALGUS WITH CORRECTION OF TRANSVERSE PLATYPODIA

A method for the surgical treatment of hallux valgus with the correction of the transverse platypodia comprises the removal of exostosis on the internal surface of the first metatarsal bone, the osteotomy of first metatarsal bone in the frontal plane, the abduction and the flexion of the distal fragment along the osteotomy line. The tongue-shaped flap with the peduncle is formed from aponeurosis and the medial surface of the articular capsule. Then the sclerotized capsule is dissected from the external surface of the first metatarsophalangesl joint. The spherical subperiosteal osteotomy of the base of the first metatarsal bone is performed at the distance of 8-10 mm distally from cuneometatarsal joint. The transverse platypodia is corrected by the external rotation of the distal fragment of the metatarsus by 15-25°, and the restored transverse arch of foot is fixed with one or two Kirshner wires.
