METHOD FOR LOCALIZING SPREADING POPULATIONS OF FALL WEBWORM MOTH (HYPHANTRIA CUNEA DRURU.)

A method for localizing spreading of populations of the fall webworm moth (Hyphantria cunea Drum.) includes procedures of settling Trichogramma and treating the plants with insecticidal preparations. At the beginning of egg laying of females of the moth and with an interval of 10-14 days threefold settling of laboratory cultures of two species of the Trichogramma onto plants are carried out. For the first settling the species Trichogramma dendrolimi Mats. is used, two other settlings are carried out using the species T. evanescens Westw. Females are settled by 75, 120 and 130 individuals per one tree. Two overall sprayings of trees with an aqueous solution of the biological preparation Lepidocide c.p. (concentrated powder) in an equivalent of 1.0 and 1.5 kg/ha are carried out in the period of the beginning of mass rebirth of caterpillars of the fall webworm moth and in 7-9 days.
