The invention relates to steam thermal power plant with peak-load turbine and method of its operation. To form peak power at power blocks of thermal power plants, from high pressure cylinder 3 of basic turbine one takes part of worked-out vapor through 1-st and/or 2-nd takeoff branch. Vapor is superheated to 800- in high-temperature vapor superheater 33 and directed to peak-load turbine 32. Worked out in peak-load turbine 32 vapor is returned to low pressure section of basic turbine. Heating of feeding water is performed with additional heat from outlet section of basic boiler 1. Exhaust of peak-load turbine 32 is connected to bypass vapor conduits 36, 8, 10 between second intermediate-pressure cylinder 9 and low-pressure cylinder 11. Heat extraction mode is provided at supply to inlet of low pressure cylinder 11 of low pressure of mixed vapor from exhausts of second intermediate-pressure cylinder 9 and peak-load turbine 32 with specific volumetric flow rate of vapor to each flow of cylinder 11 within interval. To basic steam boiler 1 additional peak-load boiler 32 can be connected, with high-temperature vapor superheater 33 and economizer 38 for heating feeding water. The invention promotes quick coming to peak power of power block without overheating basic turbine with simultaneous increase of thermodynamic efficiency.
