A repellent, insecticide, pesticide, ovicide or larvicide formulation comprising: (i) at least one encapsulated volatile essential oil, and (ii) a non-volatile vehicle in which said at least one encapsulated volatile essential oil is transported, and in the that said non-volatile vehicle is in the form of a solid or liquid, in which the non-volatile vehicle enhances the repellent, insecticide, pesticide, ovicide or larvicide effect exerted by the volatile essential oil.
