The invention relates to a compound inhibiting the binding of the free lightchain of immunoglobulin (Ig LC) to mast cells. It hasbeen found that Ig LC is the agent responsible for the sensitization of mastcells. The compounds according to the invention can thus beused for the preparation of a drug for the treatment of a disease whosesymptom is an elevated Ig LC concentration in serum or spinalfluid. The invention also relates to a method of screening a series ofcompounds on their ability to reduce the sensitization of mast cells.
