The invention relates to a method for the monitoring and automated control of the sub-processes linked in underground coal mining for coal production, such as extraction, product drawing, maintenance, logistics, and ventilation, wherein the actual data of factors relevant for the sub-processes are captured using associated sensors and in at least one processor unit are compared to target data that is stored there and has been determined for the sub-processes and the factors thereof as part of the planning process, wherein if variances between the target and actual data are found, the factors crucial for the sub-processes are automatically controlled on the basis of algorithms stored in the processor unit in order to achieve the specified target values, and the algorithms are set up such that the factors in question are modified only to such an extent that the change of individual factors does not result in admissible overstepping of the target data for further factors to be attributed to the sub-process in question and/or for further sub-processes associated with said sub-process.
