A medicament (A) for treating substance cravings comprises a combination of two dosage forms, one of which (A1) continuously releases at least one nicotinic receptor modulator (I) and the other of which (A2) provides rapid entry of galanthamine (or its salt) (II) into the CNS. An Independent claim is included for a corresponding method for therapy of substance cravings by modulation of neuronal nicotinic receptors, involving permanent treatment with (A1) plus administration of (A2) at the onset of strong cravings.
