The present invention relates to a method for making soil suitable for plant growth, comprising of introducing a mycorrhizal fungus and a silicate rock onto or into the soil, wherein the silicate rock comprises a cation, in particular magnesium, iron, calcium, aluminium, sodium or potassium or a combination thereof, and wherein a maximum of 57% by weight, preferably a maximum of 55% by weight, more preferably a maximum of 52% by weight and most preferably a maximum of 50% by weight of the silicate rock consists of silicon dioxide. In a preferred embodiment the silicate rock further comprises an OH group. The invention also relates to a composition and a kit for making soil suitable for plant growth, comprising a mycorrhizal fungus and a silicate rock.
