The tracking area optimization method provided by the embodiments of the present invention includes: an operation, maintenance and administration entity obtains an optimization threshold, and optimizes the tracking area according to said optimization threshold. By using the embodiments of the present invention, the tracking area optimization can be accomplished by the operation, maintenance and administration entity automatically.
