The dishwasher has a base compartment (1) for accommodating of rinsing goods e.g. table ware and cutlery, and an outlet (14) supplying used processing water. A water tank (11) is provided for temporary storage of the water, and a heat pump extracts heat from the tank. Another water tank (12) temporarily stores the water or fresh water, and the heat pump supplies the heat to the processing water in the latter tank. A discharge pump (8) and tank valves (9, 10) are provided for supplying the processing water from the compartment selectively to the former water tank or the latter water tank.
