The method involves reviewing the current of a battery (1) regarding an exceeding of a predetermined current threshold in a monitoring process. The loads (6,9) or load groups assigned to the cables (5,7) are disconnected or connected regarding their constancy of the supply. The current in the conductor is measured and analyzed to permanently supply consumers or groups of consumers in the monitoring procedure in the resting state of the vehicle.
