The reciprocating piston pump has a pump piston (2) which is guided in a cylindrical element (3) that is carried through a drive in oscillating lifting movement. A pump chamber (6) is limited in an axial direction by the cylindrical element. The pump chamber is radially limited on one side by a front side (7) of the pump piston extending in a conveying direction and on the other side by a radially extending lifting limit (8) of the piston. The hydraulic fluid is passed through an inlet valve (4) by the piston stroke. The device is provided in an overflow opening (9).
