The electric power source comprises a first digitally operating control unit (8) for a process parameter, a first power section (1) with a primary circuit (1.1) and a secondary circuit (1.2), and a bus distributor. A further power section (2) is equipped with primary and secondary circuits, where the first and the further power sections comprise a digitally operating power section control unit (20). The respective power section control unit receives digital control datas from the first digitally operating control unit in the type of a master-slave arrangement. The electric power source comprises a first digitally operating control unit (8) for a process parameter, a first power section (1) with a primary circuit (1.1) and a secondary circuit (1.2), and a bus distributor. A further power section (2) is equipped with primary and secondary circuits, where the first and the further power sections comprise a digitally operating power section control unit (20). The respective power section control unit receives digital control datas from the first digitally operating control unit in the type of a master-slave arrangement. The power section control unit regulates the power sections excluding the respective primary circuit. The digital control datas to be transmitted are independent from the first control unit at the respective power section control unit by the construction type of relevant power sections. The first digitally operating control unit determines the digital control datas to be transmitted at the power section control unit in dependence of the process parameter. The digital control datas are measured with regard to further power section. The first digitally operating control unit generates the control datas based on a power regulator and/or a voltage regulator. The power section control unit regulates the electric flow of the power section. A pulse amplitude modulator and/or a phase shift unit is provided for the exertion of influence on the electric power flowing in primary circuit of the power section. The power section comprises a reactive-current consumption-correction unit. The power sections are parallely switched on entrance side and/or exit side. A signal transmission of components of the power source is arranged at the first and/or further control unit.
