The device has a locking element movably supported between locking and release positions and assigned to a retaining receptacle (3) for fixing a cassette housing (1) in the receptacle. A drive unit (4) e.g. stepping motor, moves the locking element between the two positions. A sensor element (S) e.g. contact sensor, is provided in a region of the receptacle for detecting the position of the housing. The sensor element is connected with a control unit (St) that is attached to the drive unit. The drive unit controls the locking element depending on appropriate signals of the sensor element.
