A flow roll (6) is created in a grit channel/sand trap (1) by suitable flow devices. A first agitator (7) is used as a flow device that fits on one of the longitudinal walls (2,3) above a basin/tank near an inlet side (9). Second (8) and third (18) agitators also fit on the longitudinal walls above the basin/tank. On the longitudinal walls below a water table (4) there are deflectors (11) at a 45[deg] -angle setting opposite an incoming flow (15).
