The brake has an adjusting device for adjusting air gap of brake shoes (1, 2). The adjusting device has an adjusting toothed wheel (18) rotatably mounted at a spreading device. An adjusting bolt works on one of the shoes and is longitudinally shifted by rotation of the wheel. An adjusting lever (28) is engaged in the wheel. A connection element (29) is coupled with the lever and the other shoe. The lever at the spreading device is pivotally mounted at a pivot axis (30). The pivot axis is located perpendicular or in an angle larger than 45 degree to a brake carrier main plane (14).
