The arc protection device has the central conductor (3) of the 3 current conductors (2,3,4) contained within the gas-filled pressure vessel (5) of the switchgear provided with a movable short-circuit bridge (1), displaced from its initial position via a release mechanism upon a pressure increase, for providing a conductive connection between all the current conductors in its end position (9). An independent claim for a switchgear with at least one arc protection device is also included.
