The method involves acquiring measurements of a physical parameter of a driving unit (12) in a vehicle (10) by using a sensor (14), where the parameter is chosen from a group comprising pressure, temperature, load, torque, heat flow rate and power. The measurements are stored in a memory (17) of a computer module (16). The measurements are filtered, and the filtered measurements are interpreted. A monitoring unit (18) of the driving unit is incremented according to the filtered measurements, and the measurements are erased.
