Method and device for switching from a brief multicopies towards a single copy, computer program product and means of the corresponding storage

The method involves decoding each of copies of encoded word received via a communication channel, according to an error-erasure decoding mode based on multiples copies of encoded word. Number of errors per copy contained in the copy of the encoded word is determined by using original word of the encoded word. The mode is switched to error decoding mode based on a single copy, for the encoded words received from a reference communication channel, when a copy i.e. reference copy, has a determined number of errors less than correction capacity of the latter mode. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising program code instructions for implementing a method for decoding encoded words (2) a computer readable storage unit for storing a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for decoding encoded words (3) a receiving node for decoding encoded words resulting from coding of original words.
