PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect failures in a magnetic tape cartridge caused by a physical breakage prior to actually using the magnetic tape cartridge.;SOLUTION: A tape library apparatus includes: a control unit which executes insertion of the magnetic tape cartridge into a magnetic tape apparatus and ejection of the magnetic tape cartridge from the magnetic tape apparatus; and a diagnostic magnetic tape apparatus which is not used in an actual operation. A tape library controller includes a diagnostic execution control unit which controls the control unit that the tape library apparatus has to insert the magnetic tape cartridge into the diagnostic magnetic tape apparatus to make the diagnostic magnetic tape apparatus execute a diagnostic operation of the magnetic tape cartridge.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
