PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for nuclear transmutation of a long-life fission product, which improves a nuclear transmutation rate. PSOLUTION: The method for nuclear transmutation of a long-life fission product consist of steps of: preparing a linear member consisting ofSP99/SPTc or powder consisting of a mixture of BaISB2/SBand ZrHSB2/SB; forming a plurality of holes in a pellet-form material containing a neutron moderating substance; loading all the holes of the pellet-form material with the linear member to obtain a pellet-form loaded piece; loading a pin member for neutron irradiation with a plurality of the pellet-form loaded pieces stepwise; and installing the pin member for neutron irradiation loaded with the plurality of the pellet-form loaded pieces in a neutron irradiation environment.
