PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which the load on an image forming apparatus is reduced and effective printing result can be obtained in multicolor printing, using a transparent toner. PSOLUTION: The total amount of toners of CMYK is calculated in a total toner amount computing section 107, and the tolerance of the transparent toner is calculated. Next, processing for converting the tolerance to a printing area rate of the transparent toner is performed in a transparent toner area rate computing section 108, and a mask pattern for subjecting a transparent toner signal to mask processing by the printing area rate is performed in a mask pattern generating section 109.
