PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for eliminating the influence of the difference between brightness and darkness generated due to the movement of a mobile object and generating wide area images around the mobile object excellent in visibility. PSOLUTION: This wide area image generator 100 for generating the wide area images B around the mobile object from narrow area images N near the mobile object comprises: a moving state detection means 2 for detecting the moving state of the mobile object; an image acquisition means 3 for overlapping a part of images corresponding to the moving state and successively acquiring the narrow area images N; an image composition means 4 for combining the plurality of narrow area images N and generating the wide area image B; and an image correction means 5 for eliminating the influence of the shadow of the mobile object from at least one of the narrow area image N and the wide area image B.
