PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex that exhibits excellent coating operability and gives a coated paper excellent in pick strength, wet pick strength and inking properties.;SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the copolymer latex comprises emulsion-polymerizing (a) 20-80 mass% of a conjugated diene monomer, (b) 0.5-10 mass% of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (c) 10-79.5 mass% of other monomer copolymerizable with (a) and (b) using as emulsifiers (1) 0.1-2 pts.mass of an alkyldiphenyl ether disulfonic acid salt and (2) 0.01-0.29 pt.mass of an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid salt, where the emulsion polymerization is carried out by a first step: a step for polymerizing 3-30 pts.mass of at least one of the monomers (a) and (c) using at least 50 mass% of the emulsifier (2), a second step: a step for polymerizing 10-67 pts.mass of at least one of the monomers (a) and (c), and a third and subsequent steps: steps for polymerizing the residual monomers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
